VOWELS

They constituted the center of the syllable, they're the nucleus or the most prominent element in the syllable. In accent syllables long vowels are fully long when they are final in a syllable closed by a voiced consonant. When a vowel sounds like its name, this is called a long sound. A vowel letter can also have short sounds. Whether a vowel has a long sound, a short sound, or remains silent, depends on its position in a word and the letters around it. On the other hand, the pure vowel sounds is used to differentiate single vowel sounds front diphthongs. The close vowels are quite high in the mouth. The mid vowels are neither high not low in the mouth. Finally we have the open vowels in which the tongue is low in the mouth. In conclusion, A vowel is a type of sound for which there is no closure of the throat or mouth at any point where vocalization occurs.
